NLMES Society

The Nellie McClung Girls' Junior High Program emphasizes leadership in an innovative, single-gender environment; it is a program of the Edmonton Public School board.

Nellie L. McClung Educational Society

The mission of the Nellie L. McClung Educational Society (NLMES) is to actively support the Nellie program to empower girls to lead, challenge, and change the world.

The NLMES works in cooperation with Edmonton Public Schools in an advisory role to maintain the program’s integrity. NLMES membership is open to any person having a vested interest in the educational well-being of students enrolled in the Nellie program and includes: parents, guardians, and care-givers of students enrolled in the Nellie program; parents, guardians, and care-givers of Nellie alumnae; Nellie alumnae; and community members. NLMES members are encouraged to attend regular meetings, where they may discuss and vote on important issues concerning the Nellie program as the NLMES believes a collaborative partnership among students, staff, parents, community, business, and learning institutions will maximize student learning.

The NLMES maintains a website and provides strong fundraising support for the Nellie program. Funds raised through NLMES efforts are used to enhance your child’s learning experience by providing Nellie students with curriculum enrichment opportunities and Nellie specific activities.

The NLMES Board meets regularly and encourages all members to attend meetings whenever possible; NLMES members’ opinions and involvement is welcomed and valued.
